Recover access with your recovery phrase
Forgotten your password but kept your 12-word recovery phrase? That phrase restores your Easy Encryption key so you can get back to your encrypted mail and set a new password.
Open Recovery Options
Go to Settings → Encryption and choose Recovery Options. This starts the recovery flow for Easy Encryption.
Enter your 12-word recovery phrase
Type (or paste) the twelve words in order, exactly as you saved them when you set up Easy Encryption. fjell.email uses them to unlock your private key.
Set a new password
Once the phrase is accepted, choose a new password and confirm it. Your encryption key is re-secured with the new password — the old one is no longer needed.
You're back in
After processing completes, your encrypted mail is accessible again and future sign-ins use the new password. Consider re-checking that your recovery phrase is still stored somewhere safe.
No recovery phrase? Because Easy Encryption is end-to-end, the recovery phrase is the only way to restore the key — fjell.email cannot decrypt it for you. Without both the password and the phrase, previously encrypted messages can't be recovered. This is the trade-off that keeps your mail private.
