Open a secure message

Someone sent you a password-protected message from fjell.email. You don't need an account or any app — just the link and the password they shared with you.

  1. Open the secure link

The email you received contains a short notice and a link to the encrypted message. Open the link — it takes you to a page headed Secure message on fjell.email.

  2. Enter the password

Type the password the sender gave you (they'll have shared it separately — by text, call, or in person) and choose Unlock message. If it doesn't work you'll see “Incorrect password. Please try again.” — double-check for typos or trailing spaces.

  3. Read the message

Once unlocked, the message appears. As the page notes, “the password is never sent to our servers — this message is decrypted in your browser.” That's what keeps it private end to end.

  4. If the link has expired

Senders can set an expiry. If you see “Link expired or not found”, the message is no longer available — ask the sender to send it again.

Want to reply securely? The secure viewer is read-only. To send your own protected messages, you'll need a fjell.email mailbox — see Send a password-protected message.
